A Spring Micro wedding
Friday, May 28 2021
This month we're celebrating the wedding of one of our lovely UK customers; Polly. Polly was married here in the UK in April after postponing her original Christmas wedding due to Covid restrictions. We're sure you'll agree she looked incredible in our Opal Silk Gown and Diamanté silk sash in Ivory. Here's a little snippet of Polly's special day:
Tell us about your Wedding dress :) :)
I bought my dress during lockdown last year; I wasn't able to go to any shops and didn't have much time. I didn't even know what style I was looking for either. After lots of searching online and some failed attempts (a full-length sequin gown which dropped sequins everywhere) I found Alie street. My first impression was that they were very pretty and reasonably priced… For my opal silk dress, I loved how simple, delicate and flowy it was, especially with the silk chiffon. It was very comfortable and had a soft romantic appeal. I shortened the hem to show off my amazing Cinderella shoes from Emmy London and accessorised with Tiffany Roses's diamanté silk sash to match!
Can you share a fun fact about your day?
Our original wedding date was a few days before Christmas 2020, but Boris had other plans and we had to postpone our wedding with 48 hours' notice! We did eventually get married in April 2021, and the beauty of my dress is that it could be worn all seasons so I didn't have to worry. It did actually turn out to be a very cold April day, but luckily no rain.
What advice would you give to other brides-to-be planning their wedding?
Our wedding was really small, for obvious reasons, and there were a lot of people who couldn't come. I wouldn't worry about this, micro-weddings are happening more and more as people still may not feel comfortable in big gatherings yet. To make up for those who couldn't be there, we hired a really amazing wedding videographer (The Captured Picture Company) who created a sweet (non-cheesy) highlights video which I was able to share with my family and friends. I highly recommend!
We wish Polly the happiest ever after and are thrilled that she chose to share her special day with us!

If, like Polly, you've fallen in love with the Opal bridal gown's romantic appeal, here's a little more on the dress. The originally floor-length gown combines a beautiful sweetheart lace bodice with a luxurious silk chiffon skirt that floats effortlessly. With elbow-length sleeves, soft scoop neck and a V-shape back, it fits and flatters in all the right places ensuring you feel confident and ready to take the centre stage on your special day! Polly opted to alter and customise her dress by trimming the skirt unveiling glittery shoes which were matched perfectly to our Diamanté silk sash.
