Our Wedding Vow Renewal
in the Beautiful Maldives
Sun, sea and sand ... welcome to these beautiful photos sent to us by Debbie and Mark, who renewed their wedding vows in the Maldives to celebrate 25 years' of wedded bliss! Debbie wears the Katherine Lace Dress.
How long have you been married?
Mark and I have been married for 25 years. We got married at Bailiffscourt Hotel, Climping, West Sussex on 26th February 1999.
Where did you have your vow renewal and why did you choose this location?
We renewed our wedding vows on Meeru Island Resort & Spa in the Maldives. We have renewed previously there for our 10th and 20th wedding anniversaries too!
Tell us about your dress!
I chose this Katherine dress because it had movement. Not too tight, it fitted me in all the right places. I tried the Alexis dress first as it looked classy but the low front and long sleeves did not feel right for a beach wedding.
Then I tried the Macie Shift dress, and although it is very similar to the Katherine Lace dress, it didn't feel as "shifty" or look as elegant as I thought it would, so then I tried the Katherine, and it was perfect!
Do you have any advice for a lady planning a vow renewal?
When planning for the ceremony, I wanted a dress that I could wear for the rest of the day after the vow renewal and not feel uncomfortable or overdressed when walking around the island. Although it was 32 degrees, I didn't feel hot as the sleeves are a bit loose, made of lace and not right down to the wrist, and as I said, there is movement in this dress so I didn't feel wrapped up tight in a wedding dress.
I also went up a size to make sure I felt comfortable. After a 10 days in the Maldives on All Inclusive you must make sure there is room for manoeuvre in the dress!!
Any other fun facts to share about the day.
I got part ready in the room, then got whisked away (all covered up) to the spa for the finishing touches. Before I left my husband to get ready we tried on the rings and mine was really tight, so he made sure he had one of my lip balms in his pocket to put on my finger once everyone had seen that the ring was too tight! There was a bit of a chuckle.
Other than that, it was a very nice, calm and peaceful day. There was a lot of planning and a few nerves, but it went really well and the dress got lots of compliments!
