A Love Affair in Scotland
Tuesday, November 16 2021
This bridal feature we are proud to introduce real bride and groom Annette and Alan who married in Troon in Scotland. We love romantic stories, and this one truly is - where they chose to wed 11 years to the very day (and hour!) from when they met at the exact same location.
Where did you meet?
Alan and I met on the beach in Troon on 22.9.09 at 11am
Where did you get married and why did you choose that venue?
We got married at the Piersland House hotel, at 11am on the 22.9.20 exactly 11 years later. We chose the hotel, as it has beautiful grounds and also it is a few minutes' walk to the beach and we wanted photographs of us on the beach where we met.
Tell us about the dress!
I wore the beautiful lace Amber dress, and felt like a princess for the day. The true ivory is so flattering, and the neckline and cap sleeve. It was also very comfortable and it had a bit of stretch. I'm 5'3 and wore a size 12 which was the perfect fit. I chose the dress as it was simple and stylish and a match for the tartan cashmere shawl I wore. I had ordered a few to try different style, but I loved this one.
Do you have any advice for other Brides planning a wedding?
The advice I would give other brides is to have fun and plan the type of day you want, we also involved the whole family, they each had different roles: from taking photographs, doing a reading, organising a zoom call so that our family in Australia could share the day with us, and helping us collate a playlist for the wedding.
Fun Facts!
Fun facts, the night before the wedding when I was trying everything on, I panicked when realised that I didn't have a strapless bra to show off the lace top, I made an SOS to my close friend who at 11pm went to the 24 hour Tesco and saved the day :-)

The planning of this day was made possible by a wonderful effort from Annette's family and friends. Here are some people involved that she would like to thank. Hair by Clare my friend's daughter, Reading by Laura my daughter in law, Maya and Elise my granddaughters who were our flower girls, Photography was done by Todd my niece's husband and video by my brother Ian, wedding planning by Christine my sister and matron of honour who organised a surprise car and arranged a piper and our Best man Paul. Also not to forget all of the family and friends who attended for making it a magical day in spite of lockdown.

As our real bride blogs may suggest, the Amber dress is a firm favourite amongst our customers. But really, what's not to love? The Amber really is a beautifully simple, yet smart way to say, ”I do”. Crafted using layers of matt and sheen floral lace with a premium ivory jersey, it provides comfort and glamour to their big day. The shift style dress features a great silhouette with the emphasis on a perfect fit, the lining has a subtle sweetheart curve on the bust which further accentuates the notes of femininity and romance. Our Amber dress is also available in a to-the-floor gown too.
If you've recently got married or celebrated a big occasion wearing an Alie Street dress and would like to feature on the blog, contact our customer care team and they'll share details on how!
